So now that we are just about moved in and the major projects finished I’m wanting to get into a routine with Emma.  I’m curious as to what other “stay at home moms” do with their kids all day.  Now that she’s getting older and more curious and learning more I really want to take advantage of how smart she is and how fast she catches onto things but I’m struggling to find the right thing for us.  So I’m looking for any ideas as far as good websites to find activities, or a detailed list of what you do from sun up to sun down.  I just feel like I’m missing something with this whole Mom thing and with the second one on the way I want to set up a good routine and get into the habit before baby number two comes so that it will be easy to follow a routine with the second one.  Anyway I’m just blabbering now but if you have  ANY ideas or suggestions I would love to hear them as I’m really struggling to get somethings going!  Either leave a comment here or email me (amber924@gmail.com)  THANKS!!!!

So the wait is over on one of the three things we’ve been waiting for.  Emma IS CRAWLING!!  She went more than a couple motions on March 30th and now she has it completely mastered and can get anywhere she wants to fairly quickly.  She is so adorable if I do say so myself.  It’s been fun watching her figure out how it all works and she’s already started pulling herself up into the standing position now that she can get places.  With the way she loves to stand she’ll probably be walking around things before we know it.

Last week was the first week that I left Emma and didn’t come home to put her down for bed.  John and I had some shopping to do….and well to be honest shopping with a baby takes so much time…so we left her with John’s parents who were more than willing to watch her and went out to do some shopping.  We weren’t finished in time for us to be in home in time to feed her dinner and give her her bath so Grandma did it and said that it went great and that we should just stay out and go to a movie.  So very nervously I agreed not really knowing how Emma would do.  When we got back from the movie we found out that Emma did great.  She took a bottle from Grandma and let her put her down.  Granted she woke up about an hour and a half after she went down with teeth pain so this is how we found them when we got home. :)   We’re so grateful for their willingness to babysit and for their understanding in us needing a night to get out.  THANKS!

Right now we feel like all we ever do is play the waiting game.  Emma is 8 months old today and we are waiting for her to crawl and for her to get her first tooth.  I feel like she’s been teething for 2 months now and still no pearly white…kind of frustrating but more so for her…it’s so sad to see her in pain :( .  Hopefully before too long that tooth will decide to break through but right now we can only wait…  Emma’s also been so close to crawling I keep telling everyone any day…any day.  She’s a pro at rolling and going backwards and she can get up on all fours and fall forwards but she’s still working on the whole opposite arm opposite leg thing….so right now all we can do is wait.

Even more frustrating than anticipating these wonderful events in Emma’s life if the fact that it’s been 50 days and we still haven’t heard back from the bank about the house we put an offer in on.  Originally the listing agent told us it would be 45 days…well that was up on Friday and still no word.  The seller signed off on our offer and all we’ve been doing is waiting for the bank to tell us yeah or nay.  No wonder no one can buy a home….the banks won’t let them.  We’re finding it very frustrating considering we are more than qualified to purchase this home but for some reason they don’t seem to want us to.  So we’re trying to figure out if we start trying to push them along.  We’re sick of waiting and want to find a place of our own that we can make our home.  I can’t wait to actually have a room for Emma and give her the nursery that she deserves…she’s 8 months today and she’s yet to have slept in her crib we bought her.  It’s all very frustrating and somewhat depressing

A week or so ago our good friends Justin and Alicia came to visit.  We loved having them here and felt special that they would spend their vacation with us.  I didn’t get many pictures on my camera with them but here is us at one of the monuments in DC.  When I get pictures from them I’ll post more!

I can’t believe that Emma is 7 months old today…she’s growing way to fast!  I thought I would write a quick post about the new things she is doing….

  • She says dada all the time….still working on the mama…maybe someday she’ll get that one down :)
  • She can pretty much roll wherever she wants to…between that and turning around she goes where she wants to go.
  • She has started getting up on all fours and rocking back and forth, I have a feeling that crawling is just around the corner, and don’t worry I’ll be ready with the video camera.
  • She is starting to like food again…she went through this phase where she wouldn’t eat more than a bite or two of anything…but yesterday she ate almost a whole jar of pears…YEAH!!
  • She still loves her baths and would stay in there forever if we let her…this is one thing John loves to do with her…even if she gets him soaking wet…it’s adorable!
  • She’s sleeping through the night (when we moved she went through this phase of not sleeping through the night anymore, waking up 2 to 3 times a night, it took a couple of nights she finally doesn’t wake up anymore)…usually she goes to bed around 6 and gets up between 6 and 7.  I know I don’t even know what it’s like to be a mom…I feel so blessed to have such a good baby

Basically I have the happiest more adorable baby EVER!!  I feel so lucky to stay at home with her every day and get to know her better and see her personality shine through.  She is such a joy and these past 7 months have been amazing!  Here are some of my favorite pictures of from the last month or two…

Can you believe it Emma is 6 months old (and about two and a half weeks now…)!  She’s rolling over whenever she wants to get at something and she is moving in circles on her tummy.  She gets where she wants to go by rolling…I keep thinking she’ll start to crawl anytime now so we’re just playing the waiting game.  We’re also playing the waiting game with her teeth.  Her teeth have been bothering her for a while and I keep hoping that they cut through for her sake.  She’s the happiest little girl, even with the cold she’s dealing with that.  We’ve loved being parents and the joy it brings into our lives.  She’s starting blowing bubbles and she LOVES doing it.  She just sticks out her tongue and spits…it’s adorable…at least at this age.  We’ve started rice cereal and even some baby food.  We’ve found out she hates sweet potatoes but loves carrots, butternut squash, and pears.  This week is the fruit so we’ll see what others she likes or doesn’t like.  It’s so much fun getting to know what she’ll be like more and more!!  Hope you all are doing well!

Isn\'t she adorable?

I can’t believe that it’s been 3 months since Emma Jean was born.  It seems like just yesterday but at the same time it seems like she’s been in our family forever!  We’ve loved getting to know her more especially as she’s growing and interacting more.  We’ve been blessed as she’s sleeping through most nights and only has a few crying spouts a day.  What a joy this little angel is and how blessed we feel to have her be a part of our family.  She’s definetely growing and LOVES to smile.  She has the cutest little giggle that makes us smile every time we hear it.  Here are a few pictures from the last month!

So a few weeks ago (Oct 9th-13th) my sister Amy, sister-in-law Bethany, and I decided to surprise my Dad for his birthday.  Whenever we talked to him about what he wanted for his birthday he would say to see his grand kids.  So we all loaded into my sister’s van, 3 adults and 5 kids, and headed to California.  We drove the 12 hour drive in one day.  We left about 10:30 and got there about the same time that evening.  They were so surprised when we got there, it was well worth the drive.  We were able to spend Friday through Sunday with them ( we went on Thursday and drove home on Monday).  I’m glad we were able to give my dad what he wanted if it was only for a few days, and it was good for me to spend time with them as I’ll be moving to Virginia here in a month and half so my time with them these past few months has been special.  While we were there we got to go downtown to San Fransisco on Sat and go to the aquarium as well as a bay tour.  While we were out on the boat they were having a celebration for Columbus day and the Blue Angels were there so they were flying overhead as we took a tour of the bay.  Very cool…but also very loud! :)   It was a great time!

I’m so grateful for John for letting me and encouraging me to go.  He is such a sweetheart.  Not only did he let me leave for 5 days but when I got home the house was clean and I had flowers waiting on the table for me.  He’s the greatest!!!

Hope you enjoy the pictures from our adventure! (For more pictures you can go to my sister (Dan & Amy’s) blog to see the ones she posted!)

aren’t the flowers gorgeous! Thanks John! I LOVE YOU!

That’s right…Emma turned two months on Amber’s Birthday.  So it was an exciting day for both girls.  John had school, all day so Amber and Emma just chilled till he got home.  He wasn’t home for long when he took Amber out for a relaxing evening.  He bought her some sessions of tanning (since she was pregnant and couldn’t get the tan she wanted this summer :) ), a hour massage, and dinner at one of her favorite restaurants the Olive Garden.  He’s the prefect husband!  It turned out to be the perfect evening and Emma was perfect!  She didn’t fuss at all…all night!

This past weekend for conference Amber tried something new…she made homemade bread…it was her first attempt and it turned out pretty good.  She also made cinnamon rolls for the Sunday Morning Session.  Luckily they turned out too!  So she’s working on become more domestic as she gets to spend her days at home!

Some other exciting news about Emma…

  • She’s sleeping through the night…and has been for a little over a month now.
  • She just rolled over…yesterday!  She can roll from her tummy to her back (she’s growing up way to fast)
  • She’s started to giggle…it’s so cute you poke her in the belly and she has the cute little giggle…I love it!
  • She loves standing, I almost think she’s going to skip the whole crawling thing and go straight to walking as much as she loves to be on her feet.
  • At her two month check up she weight 11 lbs 9 oz.  She went from the 14 % to 72%…she isn’t hurting in the weight category. :)
  • We bought her a toy that she can lay on the floor and play with and she loves it!  She’ll play with it for an hour or so at a time without getting upset at all.
  • We moved from the sling in her tub to putting her straight in the tub  and she’s loving her baths more than ever!  She just splashes around and has so much fun!
  • She is the center of her parents’ lives and they love her SO much…just wanted everyone to know that!

Emma is six weeks old and is growing too fast.  She’s starting to interact and smile and make noises…it’s so much fun!  Here’s some pictures comparing her when we took her home from the hospital and her at six weeks.   The first couple of photos rotate from the day we took her home to her six week photos.  The last couple are just of her at six weeks.  As you can tell she’s gotten big!
