John
This past weekend we where able to make a trip to Utah for John’s graduation. He was able to go to Commencement and his Graduation. While we where there we were able to spend some time with both John and Amber’s side of the family. It was great to see everyone and spend time with family and friends. By the time we got back to the East Coast we where tired and ready to get back on a schedule. Emma did so good on the trip. She got dragged around for 4 days (including travel days) and was such an angel during the whole thing. We are so lucky to have such a perfect little girl!!
Emma loved playing with her cousins while we where in Utah.
So unlike most people John decided to run a triathlon on his birthday, even after his biking accident. He did really well and as he’s told most everyone that he really enjoyed it and is probably going to do another one.
John turned 25 this year and since he loves to give his family a hard time I decided I better give him a hard time for them. So using his own words…he’s 25 which now rounds to 30…therefore the reason for the 30 candles on the cake. We didn’t do a lot for celebrating on Sat. He got breakfast in bed, ran his triathlon, went to a movie while my sister and brother-in-law tended Emma. After the movie we picked up Emma and went to John’s favorite place to eat…Costa Vida. On Sunday we had some friends and family over for cake and homemade frozen yogurt…delicious by the way…it was a lot of fun and thanks guys for sharing it with us!
Here are the pictures from his triathlon as well as some other birthday pics.
Last Wednesday we had the most interesting night. It all started when John called me on his way home from school saying he needed picked up. He’s been riding his bike to school to try to save some money. Well when I get out or neighborhood there he is hobbling across the street from the Provo River trail. Turns out he was thinking about something other than riding his bike and ended up catching his handlebar in the fence along the trail and went up over his handlebars. Needless to say his leg is pretty beat up. Thankfully he didn’t land on his head!
Later on that evening I was trying to make dinner and I slipped with a knife and cut the tip of my finger pretty bad. When we couldn’t get it to stop bleeding I decided I probably needed stitches, so off we headed to the urgent care facility. It only took three stitches! Almost worse than the stitches was the tetanus shot they made me get as I had no idea when I had gotten my last one. Note to all…remember your tetanus shots…you don’t want to get more than you need!
John ran his marathon this morning. He did a great job! He finished his 26.2 miles in 3:42:33. He’s a bit sore now and doesn’t want to do much moving but I think he deserves it….he did run 26.2 miles. His dad and Tiffany ran the 8k while John ran the Marathon. It was fun to make it a family event! We’re all very proud of him!!
Amber decided to make John’s birthday a surprise. It started out with a couple’s massage at Amber’s work with a present waiting for him on the table. Afterwards we arrived home where a couple of his friends from High School where waiting to have the famous turtle cake and ice cream. It was a fantastic…and of course relaxing evening!

The SWKT where John spent the majority of his time.
