Time Out East
John ran his marathon this morning. He did a great job! He finished his 26.2 miles in 3:42:33. He’s a bit sore now and doesn’t want to do much moving but I think he deserves it….he did run 26.2 miles. His dad and Tiffany ran the 8k while John ran the Marathon. It was fun to make it a family event! We’re all very proud of him!!
Amber decided to make John’s birthday a surprise. It started out with a couple’s massage at Amber’s work with a present waiting for him on the table. Afterwards we arrived home where a couple of his friends from High School where waiting to have the famous turtle cake and ice cream. It was a fantastic…and of course relaxing evening!
John took Amber out to dinner at their new favorite Italian restaurant Carabba’s. Afterwards she came home to one of her favorite cakes, Strawberry Cake, made by her mother-in-law and sent by her mother. Not only that but both sets of parents spoiled her with presents. As did her husband who got tickets to King’s Dominion.
For our 6 month Anniversary John surprised me with dinner at Joe’s Crab Shack. It’s where we had our first date…except ours was in Provo. It was fun to go out to eat there…even though I don’t like fish (if you can’t tell I got a hamburger), because the one in Provo closed down. The day after our Anniversary I took John out to the Olive Garden because we ate there the day after we were married in Salt Lake. It was a fun time for us, and it was amazing to see how quickly time passed!
We spent many weekends up at the lake having fun and relaxing. I think if John had had his way we would have spent the entire time up there.
It was a great time and John got better at his barefooting and Amber got more comfortable only skiing on one ski. We were also able to spend a couple of days with John’s whole family up there, which was especially nice.
For Amber’s Birthday John got tickets to one of the near by roller coaster parks, King Dominion. We had a really fun time, especially because there were hardly any lines to wait in! The rides were awesome! However we both realized that things weren’t like they were in high school when after about one time through on all the rides we were ready to go home.
We decided to go downtown for the fireworks since I had never been. Even though it rained really hard that afternoon the weather was perfect for the fireworks and the ground was even dry. John wore his John Deere shirt, he said you couldn’t get any more patriotic, my parents agreed when we told them.
It was a great 4th of July
While working landscaping John met someone who gave them baseball tickets after they had helped him. We went with his dad and brother to the game. We actually had really good seats and the Nationals actually won. We where put up on the big screen at one point in the game…of course had to be the time when they wanted people to kiss…John enjoyed that. It was awesome to get to see a game, especially because it was free!
At the end of Winter Semester we headed out to Maryland to do internships. We stopped at many sites a long the way and had a great time! Here are the pictures from our trip. Enjoy
